Kenneth Rooks, a junior at Brigham Young, won the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase in an American collegiate record performance 8:17.62 at the On Running Track Fest at Hilmer Lodge Stadium at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, Calif. Rooks ranks as the No. 2 overall competitor in NCAA history, trailing only three performances in 1978 from Washington State star and Kenyan athlete Henry Rono.
